A successful debut of BEFA 2010!
BEFA 2010, the world's biggest funeral trade exhibition, taking place in Düsseldorf from 13 to 15 May 2010, starts into the exhibition period successfully.
250 exhibitors present all products relating to the funeral and cemetery management and trades in 20,500 square metres in halls 13 and 14 of the exhibition centre (East) of . Every major supplier of funeral services is represented, and the categories of exhibitors include prominent names. In Classics such as coffins, urns and hearses, 129 companies are represented; 171 companies in Dienste und Services; 40 companies in Büro und Drucksachen; 27 companies in Medien und Kultur, 73 in Accessories and Dekoration, and 53 in Technik und Hygiene (N.B. Companies can be in multiple categories).
The BEFA thus accounts for an increase of about 20 % of both exhibitors and exhibition space, compared with BEFA 2005.
Besides the exhibition a specialist forum on the contemporary questions concerning the funeral trade takes place. BEFA also offers cultural highlights: An exhibition on historical mourning dresses, a unique collection of memorials, and vintage hearses give an insight of the history and development of the business.
Numerous publications of the Fachverlag are launched just in time for BEFA. They are among others a new edition of Ratgeber im Trauerfall (guidebook for bereavement), a portfolio of humourous art prints of the funeral in Europe, and a sophisticated volume about the history of mourning dresses entitled Schwermut und Schönheit (melancholy and beauty). Mr. Schott of Seßlach, master in wood carving, will both carve and exhibit sculptures on sepulchral topics in the open air space on the exhibition grounds.
